Apple TV+ got plenty of fresh content Friday, with new episodes of two existing series, the first three episodes of a new show, and a feature-length documentary. Perfect for a weekend of viewing!

Comedy series Ted Lasso is the biggest launch. The show is about a hapless American football coach who travels to the UK to lead a soccer team. However, there are also new episodes of The Oprah Conversation and Little Voice. Plus the debut of Sundance documentary hit Boys State.

Ted Lasso

Apple commissioned the Ted Lasso series in October 2019, shortly before Apple TV+ debuted. Starring Jason Sudeikis, the Lasso character was created for a 2013 commercial to promote English Premier League games on NBC Sports. Now Apple TV+ has turned Lasso from a one-note joke into the central character of a series. You can check out Cult of Mac‘s review here.

Apple TV+ debuted the first three episodes of the show Friday. Additional episodes will follow each Friday. The first three episodes are titled “Pilot,” “Biscuits,” and “Trent Crimm: The Independent.”

Boys State

Apple acquired the rights to Boys State in January 2020, following a strong showing at the Sundance Film Festival where it got standing ovations. The documentary tells the story of an experiment in which more than 1,000 17-year-old boys from Texas gather to build a representative government. You can check out Cult of Mac‘s review of this “timely and terrifying” feature documentary here.

Little Voice and The Oprah Conversation

Apple TV+ also added a new episode of Little Voice (Cult of Mac review here.) Episode eight is titled “Sea Change.” Its preview reads: “With her family in turmoil and romantic life torn, Bass nears a breaking point.”)

Finally, episode four of The Oprah Conversation features an interview with lawyer and social justice activist Bryan Stevenson. “His story was told in the movie Just Mercy,” reads Apple’s preview. “The Equal Justice Initiative founder is a pivotal thought lead on racism in America.”

From Ted Lasso to Boys State: Available to watch on Apple TV+

The shows above are all available to watch on Apple TV+ for the monthly fee of $4.99. People who have bought an iPad, iPhone, Apple TV or Mac over the past year get a free subscription as part of their purchase.
