Jessie Ruane is a New York-based professional actor and interior home decorator so when it came to her home office setup she came to play. Since she last redid her setup, Ruane wanted to go with something cleaner and more minimalist. She said the favorite part of her setup is that it “is super functional to record great audio, hook up hard drives and accessories efficiently, and just perform everything speedy.”
The mainstay of the dual-monitor, MacBook Pro-run rig is an outstanding 27-inch LG UltraFine monitor. The LG UltraFine has a whopping 8 million pixels, more than four times as many as most conventional 1080p HD monitors and works seamlessly with her MacBook.

To accompany the UltraFine she has a LG 24MP88HV-S 24-Inch IPS Monitor. While not as sexy as the UltraFine, it gives her almost double the screen real estate while not breaking the bank. She would love to have another UltraWide though. The MacBook Pro rests on an Omoton Vertical Laptop Stand which adds to the minimalist aesthetic.
She accessorizes her config by staying in the Apple family. She sports both the Apple Magic Mouse and Keyboard. What more can you say about the Magic combo that has not already been said?
For audio, she went large. She has a pair of JBL 308P MkII speakers which give her high detail and precise imaging. A DBX 286s Microphone Strip Processor increases the detail and definition of the high and low frequencies of her input.
For more intimate audio, she has a pair of Beyerdynamic 459038 DT 990 Pro Open Studio Headphones, which are great for professional-grade mixing, mastering and editing. An SSL2 USB-C Audio Interface manages all this gear. One of her least favorite things about the setup are the thin Brooklyn walls. Thicker walls means she could “bump [her] speakers.”
All of this equipment and an interior designer’s touch makes this an easy setup to look at.
