Cynthia Hogan, Apple’s vice president for public policy and government affairs, has resigned from the company, Axios reported Wednesday.

Apple confirmed the departure, which will take place next month. Hogan, who has a background serving as counsel to Joe Biden in the White House and Senate, is helping Biden to pick his running mate for this year’s presidential race.

Cynthia Hogan could help pick America’s next VP

Cynthia Hogan joined Apple in late April 2016. In the role, which covered public policy and government affairs in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, she reported to Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives.

“Cynthia’s intellect and judgment have consistently distinguished her as a uniquely talented professional and we’re lucky to have her join the team at Apple,” Jackson said in a statement a the time.

Just before joining Apple, Hogan had been working as a lobbyist for the NFL. In that role, she had worked on issues related to concussions and other head trauma.

Prior to this, she worked directly with Joe Biden as chief counsel. She also served on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Recently, The Wall Street Journal revealed that Biden was seeking Hogan’s guidance on finding a vice president running mate. She will serve on the vetting committee alongside former U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd, congresswoman Lisa Blunt and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti in the new role.

Biden has said that he would like to select a woman to serve as his running mate. He hopes to make a decision as soon as early July. Possible names include Biden’s one-time presidential rivals Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren.
