With coronavirus lockdown, new streaming TV content is more appreciated than ever. Fortunately, Apple TV+ has loaded up on new content for another packed week of new shows. Debuting Friday are all eight episodes of the first season of new comedy series Trying.

There’s also episode four of the excellent Chris Evans-starring drama series Defending Jacob. That should be enough to fill at least part of the weekend!

Trying was created by Apple in partnership with BBC Studios. The 30-minute episode sitcom follows a British couple who want to have a child together, but are incapable of conceiving. As a result, they set out to try and adopt — with a series of hijinks ensuing as they try and navigate the labyrinthine system. Cult of Mac will have a full review of the show’s first season up later today. For now, though, here’s Apple’s preview:

“All Nikki and Jason want is a baby — the one thing they can’t have. So they decide to adopt. With their dysfunctional friends, screwball families, and chaotic lives, will the adoption panel agree that they’re ready to be parents?”

New episode of Defending Jacob

In addition to the whole first season of Trying (I still don’t understand Apple’s inconsistent approach to rolling out shows), there’s also the fourth episode of Defending Jacob.

The show tells the story of a small-town assistant district attorney whose family is turned upside down after his 14-year-old son is accused of murder. The preview for episode four, “Damage Control,” reads:

“Andy takes matters into his own hands. Laurie reexamines the life she knew.”

How to watch Apple TV+

Apple released three new advertisements for Apple TV+ on Thursday. These highlight the big stars that appear in Apple Originals, along with the original stories told by the over two dozen shows and movies that have debuted since fall.

Apple TV+ cost $4.99 per month. Alternatively, if you have bought a new iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV, you get a one-year subscription thrown in for free.
