World War II strategy game Company of Heroes is on its way to iPhone. The award-winning PC classic has already enjoyed a successful launch on iPad, and will soon be easier to play anywhere.

Many consider Company of Heroes to be the ultimate real-time strategy game. It’s a must-play for fans of the genre, picking up countless awards — including Game of the Year — since its debut.

On iPad, Company of Heroes is a complete port of the original, optimized for touch devices, and overhauled with high-resolution visuals that look spectacular on a Retina display.

And you will soon be able to enjoy it on iPhone so that you can pick up and play wherever you may be.

Company of Heroes coming to iPhone

“Following its successful launch on iPad, the groundbreaking World War II RTS is coming to iPhone and Android,” publisher Feral Interactive confirmed on Tuesday. You’ll be able to play it “later this year.”

Company of Heroes lets you take control of two factions of American troops as they fight against the German Wehrmacht. There are 15 missions, based on some of the most challenging battles of World War II, to complete.

One of the things we like about the game is that it’s a “premium” title. You’ll need to cough up $13.99 to purchase it, but that gets you everything there is to enjoy — without ads or in-app purchases.

“We want to bring the experience of the original desktop game as faithfully as possible to mobile, that becomes very hard to do if we introduce in-app purchases,” Feral explained to Cult of Mac.

If you can’t wait for the iPhone release, Company of Heroes is available on iPad today. It weighs in at around 8GB and is compatible with all iPad models released since 2017.
