A tipster with a nearly perfect record predicts that Apple will soon refresh its iMac and Mac mini lines.

Unfortunately, this source is very light on details. Perhaps this will be the redesign of the iMac many people have been hoping for.

A tweet from CoinX says simply “iMac/Mac mini [SOON].”

CoinX isn’t well known, but this tipster was the first to predict the name iPhone Pro. They also correctly tipped the return of the iPad Mini and the end of the 9.7-inch iPad months before Apple made these changes.

Looking ahead to 2020 iMac and 2020 Mac mini

The iMac saw a speed-bump update a year ago, but no significant changes in design. And this desktop has looked very nearly the same since 2004. The only major changes have been increases in the size of the built-in LCD.

Whether the 2020 iMac will be the one top shake things up is anyone’s guess. Clearly, CoinX couldn’t say. But Apple is known to be tinkering with new designs.

As for the 2020 Mac Mini, this line of tiny desktops was last updated in late 2018. How it might change this year is equally a mystery, aside from a probable increase in processor speed.

Apple is widely expected to hold a product launch event later this month. If so, these two desktops could well debut there.

And a better iPad camera

CoinX also threw out another tidbit today: a brief mention that there’ll be a “new camera on iPad.”

This is in line with previous evidence that Apple is about to increase the number of lenses in its tablet. An iPad with a dual-lens camera is expected soon, with a triple-lens version is coming later.
