Beloved Sony PlayStation mascot Crash Bandicoot is coming to mobile with a brand new game, according to screenshots which have shown up online.

Developed by King, Crash Bandicoot Mobile is an endless runner in which the genetically engineered bandicoot looks set to speed through Wumpa Island en route, we presume, to disrupting the plans of evil Doctor Neo Cortex.

This will be the first time in a decade that Crash has had a mobile game. The first one, Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D, was among the first games released for the App Store in 2008. It got a sequel two years later in 2010.

Crash Bandicoot: Soon to be back in the App Store

Things have, of course, changed quite a bit since then. Not only has Crash enjoyed something of an AAA gaming renaissance, but the type of games dominating the App Store have shifted. Back in 2008, Nitro Kart 3D was a big hit. Priced at $5.99, the premium game was popular with both critics and fans. It was among the top-earning games of its day.

So far, there’s no word on when Crash Bandicoot Mobile will debut. King also haven’t revealed what payment model they will follow. When Nintendo brought fellow video game icon Mario to iOS with Super Mario Run, it also chose to go the endless runner route. Nintendo charged $9.99 for the title, but didn’t rake in as much money as it hoped. Since then, Nintendo has largely stuck with freemium titles loaded with in-app purchases.

King’s most famous franchise are the Candy Crush Saga games. This titles have raked in more than $1 billion in in-app purchases over the years. It makes sense that it would stick with that same model for Crash Bandicoot.

Fans will have to wait and see!
