CalDigit now offers the Pro Dock, a multiport USB-C hub that can drive a pair of 4K displays at a full 60Hz. There are plenty of hubs that let a MacBook connect to a single monitor, but this dual-screen option is more rare.

The Pro Dock also has a trio of USB-A ports, Ethernet, and other ports.

CalDigit Pro Dock: Two, two, two monitors in one

MacBooks and others with a Thunderbolt 3 port can take full advantage of the pair of DisplayPort 1.2 ports. According to Apple, that includes:

  • MacBook Pro introduced in 2016 or later
  • MacBook Air introduced in 2018
  • iMac introduced in 2017 or later
    iMac Pro (all models)
  • Mac mini introduced in 2018

Other computers with just a USB-C can still hook up a pair of screens but only at HD resolution, according to CalDigit.

Rival accessory-maker Satechi offers its own dual-monitor adapter. This can power a pair of 4K HDMI screens at 60Hz, and doesn’t require Thunderbolt 3. It does take up two USB-C ports, however.

In addition, the CalDigit Pro Dock offers three USB 3.2 Type-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet, an SD card reader, and a 3.5mm headset jack. There’s also a Thunderbolt 3 port to connect to the host computer with 85W of charging, as well as a data-only USB-C 10Gb/s port.
