Shantae 5, the latest installment in the popular platform video game series, is an eagerly anticipated title for Apple Arcade.

Now the game’s developer has released some new information about the new outing. This includes its full name, plot, and new features. Check it out:

“New locations, abilities, and friends await in Shantae’s biggest adventure yet,” developers WayForward write. “Having previously announced the next game in the Shantae series back in March, we are proud to reveal the official title for the hotly anticipated action-adventure-platformer: Shantae and the Seven Sirens.”

A new adventure to enjoy

The new game sends everyone’s favorite belly-dancing, hair-whipping, half-genie hero (to be fair, how many are there?) to a tropical island. Unfortunately, there’s trouble in paradise in the form of an assortment of sinister secrets. The game will boast multiple towns, boss fights, and “all-new dance abilities.” There’s also an additional collectible card system that gives players the ability to augment Shantae’s powers.

The developers promise the ability to enjoy:

“An interconnected world using new Fusion Magic creature transformations, including a newt and other aquatic forms!
4K-resolution hand-painted visuals (on 4K devices only)!
All-new characters and returning favorites like Rottytops, Sky, Bolo, and the nefarious Risky Boots!
[Collecting] and [powering] up with monster cards!
Minigames, [acquiring] magic and items, and [uncovering] secrets!
Gorgeously animated TV-style cutscenes!”

It’s a classic platformer with some gorgeous 2019 graphics.

Coming soon

Shantae 5 will be one of the launch games for Apple Arcade. This is Apple’s monthly subscription service gaming platform. The idea is to get players to pay a monthly fee for premium games not otherwise available on the platform. In exchange, it will hopefully strike a blow against the in-app purchase-loaded titles which have increasingly dominated the App Store.

No release date has been announced, although Apple said it would launch in the fall.

This latest Shantae title won’t be exclusive to Apple, however. It’s also set to debut on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, if you’re looking to play it on mobile, this is the only way you’ll be able to do it. You can check out the list of all the announced Apple Arcade games here.
