Fortnite players on iPhone just scored a huge advantage over their adversaries on Android and Nintendo Switch.

Epic Games has optimized the iOS version of Fortnite in its latest patch so that it runs at 60fps on the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, making the game look better than ever.

The most recent Fortnite patch adds the option for 60fps under the video settings option. This puts the iPhone XS and XR on the same page as the PS4 and Xbox One.

Some gamers say the higher frame rate makes it easier to rack up kills and play better because its easier to see opponents and aim. Personally, I know nothing about that, but Cult of Mac‘s resident Fortnite expert, Killian Bell, tells me this is a big deal.

Most people aren’t going out to buy the iPhone XS and XR purely for gaming, especially Fortnite, but it is pretty amazing to see Apple’s tiny A12 processor keep up with the latest consoles.

For now, there isn’t an Android device on the market that can play Fortnite at 60fps. Epic Games told The Verge it is working on Android optimizations and hopes to bring 60fps to some Android models in the future.
