Fortnite’s weekly update has arrived with the long-awaited Heavy Assault Rifle. It deals more damage that any other AR but has a smaller magazine size so you’ll have to keep an eye on your ammo.

The version 6.22 patch also brings the Team Terror and Blitz limited-time game modes and a number of tweaks and improvements.

Halloween might be over but Fortnite isn’t done with giving us a fright. Cube Monsters remain in Battle Royale and they’re a big focus in the brand new Team Terror game mode.

Fortnite’s newest game mode has arrived

Team Terror is actually a lot like regular Battle Royale, except instead of fighting by yourself, in a duo, or in a squad, you fight in a team of 32. There are two teams in each match and the main aim of the game is to eliminate all your opponents to win.

Cube Monsters that can drop weapons, ammo, and other loot when you destroy them play a big part in this LTM. Spawns are dotted around the island and appear each time the storm closes into a new circle, so there’s plenty of chance to stock up for the end game.

You’ll find increased loot on the floor, too, and three times the normal amount of ammo in ammo boxes. Chests offer twice as much ammo and consumables, while supply drops contain an extra consumable, resource drop, and trap.

Blitz makes a comeback

Blitz, the fast-paced version of Battle Royale, also makes a comeback this week. It plays in much the same way as the regular game, except the delay between each storm circle is shorter, so matches last for 15 minutes or less. The map also holds extra loot and resources.

Blitz is ideal for those who prefer fast-paced gameplay. The faster storm pushes players together much quicker, and starts closing in as soon as the match begins, so you have a greater chance of finding a gunfight at any time.

Fortnite’s Heavy AR has finally landed

By far the most exciting addition in the 6.22 patch is the new Heavy AR, which looks a lot like an AK-47. It has been rumored for many months and Epic finally got around to adding it.

Available in rare, epic, and legendary variants, the Heavy AR deals 44/46/48 base damage, respectively. That’s significantly more than the other assault rifles, but its 3.75 fire rate is slower, and it can carry just 25 rounds in each magazine.

This helps balance the weapon a little bit, but there’s no doubt it is incredibly strong — especially for those with accurate aim. To try it out for yourself, look out for the Heavy AR in floor loot, chests, vending machines, and supply drops from today.

Fortnite 6.22 tweaks fixes

Finally, this update reduces the spawn rate of the balloons that were added last week, and addresses an issue faced by players who were hit by a Boogie Bomb while holding balloons. You can download it now across all platforms, including Mac and iOS.

And don’t forget to look out for those new NFL jerseys being added to the Fortnite item shop on November 9!
