Apple didn’t totally leave out the MacBook Pro from receiving some new features today, even though the company didn’t give its most powerful notebook any stage time at today’s event.
While the MacBook Air, Mac mini and iPad Pro were the stars of today’s keynote in New York, Apple quietly revealed on its website that the MacBook Pro is getting a spec bump too.
The MacBook Pro is being updated with new graphics options that bring Radeon Pro Vega GPUs to the MacBook Pro for the first time. In its press release for the MacBook Air, Apple says the new graphics will bring “up to 60 percent faster graphics performance for the most demanding video editing, 3D design and rendering workloads.”
You’ll have to buy the top-of-the-line 15-inch MacBook Pro to get the new graphics. The new machines will start shipping on November 14. Apple didn’t reveal any pricing details for the Radeon Pro Vega graphics options but it definitely won’t be cheap.
If you’re looking for a new Mac that’s not quite as expensive, the new Mac mini and MacBook Air are now the cheapest Macs available. Pricing on the new Mac mini starts at $799 while the MacBook Air price tags range from $1199 and up.
