The ‘iPod shuffle of Spotify’ is back and better than ever

It’s been a few years since the iPod shuffle was last updated, but there are still plenty of fans out there with fond memories of Apple’s tiniest iPod music player.

If you fall into that camp, you might want to check out the Mighty, a music player that’s basically an iPod shuffle for Spotify. The latest version, called the Mighty Vibe, brings increased battery life and an improved Bluetooth antenna. (It also boasts a refreshed companion app.)

The Mighty started out on Kickstarter. It delivered on its promises (something that isn’t a given for crowdfunding campaigns). The device quickly made a name for itself due to its Apple-inspired design.

The idea, in essence, is that it lets you leave your phone at home and listen to your Spotify playlists on the go, using offline playback.

As with many second-generation devices, the new Mighty Vibe is more of a polish than a total refresh. After getting the device into customers’ hands, the Mighty team took their feedback and made requested improvements.

Things like an app that’s easier to use, or a bit of extra charge on the battery (giving you around five hours), aren’t major upgrades. Still, they promise to make the experience more enjoyable.

The Mighty Vibe costs $86. Right now, it only works with Spotify, although other music partners are supposedly on the way.
