Apple fans are handing over silly sums of cash to get their hands on the iMac Pro’s exclusive space gray accessories. Sellers are taking advantage of the early demand to recoup a large chunk of the $5,000-plus they paid for their new machine.

The iMac Pro is the same size and shape as any other iMac. But to differentiate it from its more affordable siblings, Apple gives it an exclusive space gray paint job — and throws in space gray accessories to match.

Adopters get a space gray Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, a Magic Mouse 2, a Magic Trackpad 2, and a Lightning cable. If you buy these separately from Apple, they’re only available in white.

eBay sellers cash in on exclusive iMac Pro accessories

Some iMac Pro buyers have recognized the opportunity to sell their space gray accessories at a premium. A number of sellers have already collected more than $1,500 by listing theirs on eBay, while others are asking for more than $1,700.

“Just after Christmas, one eBay seller listed the accessories at a jaw-dropping $2,500,” reports Gizmodo, “but that listing is now marked as “Ended” without indication of a sale.

Some listings have made a lot less — between $500 and $600 — but this is still considerably more than the $337 Apple charges for all these accessories in white.

If you’re a little short on cash, selling your iMac Pro accessories might be the fastest way to make back some of the $5,000 you had to spend to get the high-end machine. But you’ll probably have to act fast.

As more of these accessories flood eBay, their price tags will likely fall. And if Apple decides it will sell them separately later, they’ll fetch less than the Apple Store’s asking price.
