If you are among the millions of Apple fans that just preordered the new iPhone X, here’s one piece of advice: Whatever you do, don’t break it.
Apple updated its webpage for the pricing on out-of-warranty repairs, and the iPhone X shatters the record when it comes to screen repairs and other damage.
iPhone X repair prices reach a new high
Busting your iPhone X screen without AppleCare+ will cost you $279 in the United States. Any other damage will cost $549 if it’s not covered by the warranty.
Fees vary in other countries, but none of the prices are cheap. In pretty much every country, you could just buy an iPhone SE replacement for cheaper:
- Australia: $419 for screen repair, $819 for other damage
- Canada: $359 screen for repair, $709 for other damage
- Germany: 321 euros for screen repair, 611 euros for other damage
- United Kingdom: 286 pounds for screen repair, 556 pounds for other damage
If you’ve purchased AppleCare+, the price for repairs runs significantly cheaper. The plan costs $199 upfront and gives you coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage. You’ll only pay $29 for screen damage, or $99 for any other damage.
