Here’s how the game of iOS cat-and-mouse jailbreak works. A team releases a working jailbreak for the most recent version of iOS to the public. Apple moves to eliminate the exploit that made the last jailbreak possible, releases a new version of iOS, and stops ‘signing’ previous jailbreakable versions of iOS, meaning they can no longer be installed on devices. Rinse and repeat.
The last version of iOS, iOS 8.1.1, closed the hole that made the Pangu jailbreak possible. But now a new jailbreak has been released, that will jailbreak iOS 8.1.1 on any device. Here’s how to install it.
The jailbreak is called TaiG. It’s in Chinese, and it only works on Windows (although running it in a Windows virtual machine also works fine), but it jailbreaks every version of iOS from iOS 8.0 to iOS 8.1.1, and it works like a charm.
To install the jailbreak, download the TaiG tool, extract its contents, and run the tool as an administrator. For the device you intend to jailbreak, turn off ‘Find My iPhone’ and disable your passcode under ‘Settings’, then enable AirPlane mode. Plug your device into your computer, and when TaiG recognizes your device, uncheck the second box (the one that doesn’t say Cydia) and hit the green button. When you see the smiley face, your jailbreak is done!
I tried it, and it worked quite well. Of course, with Apple still signing iOS 8.1, it seems a little odd that a perfectly good jailbreak technique would be squandered on iOS 8.1.1 when it could have been held back for iOS 8.2. But I suppose we shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
Did you jailbreak your device using TaiG? Let us know in the comments.

The TaiG is not seeing my phone. I have Windows 7, 64 bit and Iphone 5S with IOS 8.1.1. I can do a screen shot for somebody who wants to see.
weird does iTunes see your iPhone did you follow the directions
Same with my phone and I can’t seem to find any answers.
I found another TaiG download. It was TaiGJbreak_1021. This download worked. TaiGJBreak_1006 does not work.

I was running Win7 using Parallels on my Mac and it wouldn’t work. Tried it on a standalone Win7 machine and worked like a charm.
doesn’t work for my 5s. wont even recognize the device, but iTunes does. Wish idve stayed on 8.1.
You can still downgrade!
i dont think so anymore
Just tried it and it was a successful jailbreak. Thank you for sharing!
not sure what I could be doing wrong. I’ve used just about every jb tool since the dawn of time and this is the first one not to work for me.
has any experience those random crashes while using safari after jailbreaking on ios 8.1.1
i just did it on my iphone 6 and it worked perfectly!
u shouldnt jailbreak your new phone that quickly……….. it could be… DEADLY
No $hit.
it works 100%
Works like a charm on my 5s :)
Those of you having issues, did you follow instructions completely? I initially thought I already had “find my iPhone” turned off, and thought airplane mode was just an extra precaution (so I ignored that step).
The jailbreak tool was giving an error and wouldn’t let me proceed. After fixing those two errors it worked just fine. (IPad mini retina)
Works fine.. it didnt work the first time cause I had my wifi on still but its good.
I can’t get it to work, I followed all the steps but it still cant find my phone. is it possible that it doesn’t work with the 4S
I have a 4S and it recognized it, but then got stuck at 60%
Is it an untethered jailbreak?
Yep
Stuck on 60%… iPhone 4S.
I am brand new to jailbreaking and I just did this. Getting cydia on my ipod was very easy but nothing that I download has any effect on my ipod. Please help? I have 8.1.1
Did you check if the tweaks were already compatible with ios 8 and above? Some tweaks are not updated yet ;)
They’re literally ALL chinese, are you retarded? I mean what the fuck do you think Pangu is, British?
Yeah you have an awesome point, nice bait try.
Your phones are made in China. A lot of electronics too. And now some software comes up, even the last Pangu JB, and you blabber now.
Did you get out of your rock just now?
Do you know theres a thing called Firmware? And it exists in almost all hardware? And loaded into hardware in chinese factories?
Wheres the point of an argument with an ignoramus like you now?
Well son, for a country with little respect for human life worldwide, USA, I am well off using a jailbreak from people whose code has been certified safe by experts from the jailbreak community world over.
Nice try to scare some cats with your ignorant BS. Sane people, talk about insanely stupid people like you. Fortunately, this is the Internet, and people can google your crap out in seconds.
Back to the AppleInsider forums, son. Your moderation there ensures that only bigots like you and worse are comfortable to speak out.
Yes Shortest Skil, lets teach this fool some manners & sense.
It works!!!!! thanks
Windows 7, 64 bits. iPad 3. Worked like a charm. Stuck a little bit at 60%, but you need to be patient ;).
TaiGJbreak_1021 is the bomb! Stable and works great on my 2 Iphone 5s’s and Ipad Air.
I have been Jailbreaking since I got my Iphone 4s or about 2 years.
Guys change the taig location, I mean copy it to the other folder
Just completed the jailbreak on my iPhone 5, a completely counting process due to being a Mac user but after a few hours f**king around, trying to download and install Parallels for Mac to be able to use TaiG, I have found it works perfectly. It’s good to see Lydia back on my home screen… Now comes the even more daunting task of putting all my tweaks back to the way I had my phone… S**t.
pls forgive my “beginner-ness”, but what’s the point of “jailbreaking” my iPhone? Y would I want to do it? Thanks–
