Early Apple Employees Auction Killer Collectibles

If there’s a good thing about the recession, it seems to be bringing some fine Apple memorabilia out of storerooms and closets.
Cliff and Dick Huston — ex-Apple engineers, for the record employees 27 and 25 — have decided to part with a treasure trove of Cupertino collectibles by auctioning them on eBay.

What’s on the block:

You’re all going crazy with your iPad ordering. Meanwhile, over on Vimeo, BrewBeau has some craziness of his own going on.

If – like me – your fridge is black, then these shiny iPhone app fridge magnets from Jailbreak Collective will look very smart indeed displayed on the door.

Apple Boosts Mac Mini Speed, Adds Dual-HDD Server

apple-mac-mini-600

Apple has upgraded its current line of Mac mini computers, plus added a server version. The base mini ($599) gets a slightly faster Core 2 Duo processor (2.26GHz versus 2GHz), double the previous memory (2GB, up from 1GB) and a beefier hard drive (160GB versus 120GB.)

The $799 version includes a 2.53GHz processor, 4GB of memory (versus 2GB previously) and a 320GB hard drive.

The much-rumored server version has also hit the Apple Store shelves. The $999 Mac mini server swaps out the CD drive for an extra 500GB hard drive, providing two 500GB drives. The server also offers Snow Leopard Server, a 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB of memory and a 9400M GPU.

The above picture is partially incorrect: because the new Mac mini server omits its disc drive in favor of a second hard drive, the enclosure for the server version (only) does not have a disc slot in front. (It does retain the power indicator and black IR sensor.)
