Decision only affects in-app purchases.

It appears that Apple won’t be slashing commissions it pays when affiliates redirect customers to buy apps from the iOS App Store, after all.

Despite Apple previously noting that, “Starting on May 1st 2017, commissions for all app and in-app content will be reduced from 7% to 2.5% globally,” it seems that the change applies only to in-app purchases.

The news is bound to be well-received by the plethora of websites which rely on affiliate link revenue to cover some of their costs. It was reported by the website MacGamerHQ, which initially contacted Apple to ask if the decision affected Mac apps as well as iOS ones. In the event, they were told it affects neither.

While there’s still a chance that things could change, as of now people are still seeing their 7 percent commission for affiliate redirects.
