MacBook Pro owners that wish Apple included more ports alongside the Touch Bar can now have the best of both worlds — if they don’t mind slapping a huge dock on their machines.
OWC teased a new accessory called the DEC dock for MacBook Pro at CES, the monstrous gadget show happening in Las Vegas this week. The dock is comically large, but it adds a bevy of new features to the MacBook Pro, including extra storage.

Full details on the DEC dock remain a bit vague. OWC claims it will come with 4TB of SSD storage, three USB ports, a gigabit Ethernet port and an SD slot. Press images for DEC don’t show some of the ports listed, though, so it may be a few months before everything gets finalized.
It’s so big, OWC’s engineers might as well toss in some extra battery power and a CD drive while they’re at it. The DEC dock will probably be a great solution for people who mostly use their MacBook at home, but I would hate to travel with that heavy dock attached to my sleek MacBook Pro.
Once it is available, OWC says DEC will attach and be completely flush with the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. No word yet on when DEC will be available or how much it will cost, but you can sign up to get notified about updates on OWC’s website.

I had to check the date to make sure I hadn’t missed a few months and it was actually April 1.

how does it connect to the MBP? replace the bottom cover?
I’m guessing they left out the USB-C to USB-C cable to make it look cleaner.
that’s what i was wondering – you have this nice sleek “dock” and sticking out the right side is this ugly short C-C adapter.
DEC?
It’s about the size of a PDP-11 too.
Shoehorning a cup holder into an Exige to make Lotus great again would be simplification, but imagine a Bondi sitting on a bank of Dins, PS/2s, Parallel and Serial ports, and you get the general idea.
