A video has surfaced online, alleging to show Apple’s next-gen Lightning EarPods on an iPhone running iOS 9.
While we’ve heard rumors that the iPhone 7 may ditch the headphone jack, and have even seen blurry (and not-so-blurry) photos appearing to confirm the same thing, this is the first time a video has appeared to show off Apple’s forthcoming EarPods in all their 3.5mm jack-free glory. Check it out below.

Aside from the Lightning connection, the EarPods don’t seem to differ too much from the ones Apple currently makes, down to the ability to control playback and volume using an in-line button. However, the EarPod’s in-line microphone is not tested as part of the video.
Ultimately, they look legitimate enough — and it’s somewhat more difficult to fake would-be products in a video rather than a single image — but we won’t know for sure until Apple announces the iPhone 7 in early September.

The iPhone 7 better have 2 lightning ports or I’m not buying it!
Um, so can’t listen and charge at the same time?
++ Exactly, if this is true, what a fail.
Use airplay.
This is clearly a fake. It is especially clear in the lightning connector: industrial design is cheap, apple would never have designed that shape, and moreover the “softer” part just after the connector chassis is white instead of grey like in the earbuds and volume controls.
Agreed. Plus, it’s twice the size of the lightning plug on a current charging cable. In fact, at that size there could be a 3.5mm jack inside it.
The DAC is inside the plug.
Still looks fake.
If apple can create bluetooth earbuds that can last 12hrs and be comfortable, maybe I would consider owning an iPhone with the lack of 3.5mm… maybe.
So fake. Why would the lightning plug look any different than a current charging cable? This one is twice as big, the wrong shape, and the wrong color.
It has DAC inside.
I just want to know how to charge my phone and listen to music at the same time? (Like I can do now)
