The world’s largest fried chicken chain has come up with a wacky new idea that will fill your stomach as well as your iPhone.
As part of a promotion in India, KFC has introduced a new limited edition “Watt A Box” that packs all the greasy finger-lickin’ chicken you could want, along with with a USB port and portable battery that eaters can use to recharge their iPhones with while grubbing.
Check it out:
Watt A Box packs a 6,100mAh rechargeable battery and a Lightning USB cable. There’s also a mini-USB port for Android users, and it appears that the battery can be removed and reused — if not, WOW, what a waste!
Unfortunately, it’s currently only available at a couple of locations in Delhi and Mumbai as part of a weeklong promotion through Facebook. No word on if the box will ever make its way to the U.S., but I’m not sure I’d be willing to eat at KFC just to get one anyway.

“There’s also a mini-USB port for Android users”…….Unlike Apple Android phone have embraced the “new” micro-usb port. You should look into it.

Like Apple, every one is moving to USB-C which has been (mainly) developed by Apple.
Every one will move to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack as well.
USB C was NOT mainly developed by Apple. Give your head a shake. You really should look that up before spewing lies.
There have been other phones WITHOUT the 3.5 mm headphone jack already so try not to wave the Apple pom poms too much.
USB-C was mainly developed and audited by Apple, (you better read project papers), just like Thunderbolt.
There were no smartphones without 3.5mm headphones BEFORE Apple’s rumor of removing the headphone jack.
No where does the article say “new” micro-usb port….relax deep breaths.
I’m willing to bet the meal is cheaper than a lighting cable and a 6,100mAh battery, so I’d buy the meal and throw it away, or at least drink the soda. But the last time I drank a fountain drink in New Delhi (with ice made from tap water I’m sure), it did not end well. So basically, throw it all out and keep the cable and the battery.
Exactly……I quoted the words “mini USB port” for a reason.
I was being sarcastic because mini USB hasn’t been used in years. They all use micro USB. Except for a couple who are now using type C USB.
To launch such a thing in a country who’s fundamental dharma (constitutional position) is vegetarian is absolutely atrocious.
