Just a few days after they were offered the opportunity to buy a unit early, at least one developer has already received a new Apple TV dev kit in the mail.

Developer Caleb Thorson just posted a picture of his Apple TV dev kit on Twitter. (Which has since seemingly been removed, possibly as a response to dev agreements. ) It arrived just 24 hours after Apple let developers know they’d be shipping Apple TV dev kits this week.

As we previously reported, the new Apple TV is virtually free to some developers, just costing $1 to verify shipping address. It is the first time Apple has provided (virtually) free hardware to developers.

Hopefully, other Apple TV dev kits are also starting to arrive, guaranteeing a fertile start to the new tvOS App Store. Fingers crossed!
