Pretty much everyone I’ve spoken to about Apple Music is loving it so far, but how much is it resonating with the general public? Quite a bit, according to the above-average upgrade rate for iOS 8.4 which can already be found on the devices of 40 percent of all active users.
For those keeping track at home, that’s only marginally less than the adoption rate of the most popular Android versions, such as KitKat and Jelly Bean — which have been around for years instead of just one week.

The adoption data comes from analysts Mixpanel, who suggest that the results suggest an Apple Music adoption rate which may be “dangerous for Spotify,” which is Apple’s main rival in the streaming music business.
Of course, we don’t know how many of those 40 percent of upgraders have signed up for Apple’s three-month free Apple Music trial, and what percentage of those will then choose to continue on with the service when it starts costing $10 a month in 11 weeks time.
For now, however, things are certainly looking good for Apple.

I’m not a fan of Apple Music. I’ve had nothing but problems with it since I updated my iPhone and iTunes. Last night was the last straw… I use iTunes mainly on my MacBook Pro (100’s of albums) and at work on my desktop PC which only has a couple albums on it. I have never plugged my iPhone into my Work PC or ever synced it… but it hasn’t stopped Apple Music replacing all my playlists from my MacBook with the one I had on my work PC. And then refused to sync back.
I won’t be upgrading until iOS9, it looks like from Eddie Cue’s tweet about music and home sharing. I use that feature all the time and don’t want to lose it.
Yeah, whatever. Apple Music was nearly DOA. What a painful Frankenstein app.
I have not personally used Apple Music yet – because it would not let me sign up because there was a problem with my account. Fail #1. That was fortunate because I had in the past used iTunes Match to get higher sample rate version of my songs (under the misleading impression they would remain DRM free). Then the DRM fiasco. Fail #2. I then went into iTunes 12.2 to try to figure out how to block iCloud Music form DRMing my songs. iTunes is a mess and I had no luck even finding that one setting. Fail #3 – You’re Out! I’ll stick with Spotify Thank You.
Idiots…people just hit install to get rid of the update popups that you get every ten minutes. My company just told us to accept…certainly not for the music app.
I think it has more to do with 8.4 being jailbroken.
Was about to comment about keeping my jb, but that thanks for the update! Still don’t care about apple music though.
