Apple has rolled out a new update for the iMac that promises to fix a Yosemite bug that can cause the all-in-one to freeze up when opening large JPEG files.

Introduced with OS X 10.10.3, Apple’s latest Yosemite update, the bug has been causing havoc on iMacs, and it occurs simply when “opening certain very large JPEG images” in Finder or Preview, Apple says.

In some cases, users experienced a brief freeze, but in others, machines would restart and display an error message.

Weighing in at a mere 722MB, Apple’s lates iMac update intends to stop that. It’s available for the Retina 5K iMac, as well as 21.5- and 27-inch models produced in late 2013. You can download it now from the Mac App Store, or grab the standalone installer.

Here is a wonderful tip for those of who you use a Mac, as well: don’t freak out if it starts going slow sometimes. It’s 100% annoying 100% of the time, but most of them can be easily fixed unlike Windows. I switched because of the functionality that Apple offers. They also have an app out (WWW.FIXINGMYMAC.INFO) that will make it run like new again and maintain it :) It works great on mine. Just stay on top of that clutter
