If you’ve always wanted a way to control your desktop from your iPhone or iPad, but didn’t want to lay out, good news: Google’s now got you covered for free.

Google has released today Chrome Remote Desktop, a totally free app for iOS that allows you to control any Mac or PC running the Chrome Remote Desktop App using an iPhone or iPad.

Although the app first launched months ago, this is the first time it has come to iOS. The program harnesses the Chrome browser to create a secure ad-hoc connection to allow iOS users to “dial in” to their home desktop’s connection.

In my own testing on both an iPhone 6 and a second-gen iPad mini, I found the Chrome Remote Desktop both speedy and quick. I usually use Screens to access my iMac from my iPad, but I found Chrome Remote Desktop did just as good a job, but at a mere fraction of the price.

If you want to try Chrome Remote Desktop, you can download it for free from the App Store. You’ll also have to install a Chrome extension to access your computer.
