If you’re desperately waiting for Cupertino to unleash an ultra high-resolution monitor you might not have to wait much longer, according to a report stating that Apple plans to release 27-inch 5K3K high-resolution iMac models by the end of 2014.
Monitors built to the 5K3K specification have a reported 5120 x 2880 resolution. The report suggests that the new iMac models, along with competing products from other manufacturers, are expected to kick off a new wave of demand for Ultra HD monitors in the marketplace.
As per Digitimes:
“Market trends show that most monitor vendors are interested in developing 27-, 28- and 32-inch Ultra HD units, said industry observers, adding that the Ultra HD LCD monitor penetration rate in 2014 is likely to reach around 5%.”
Dell recently announced its new 27-inch external display with a resolution of 5120×2880. Although Apple hasn’t made any such promises, it’s worth noting that hints surrounding a Retina iMac were discovered in a developer model of the OS X Yosemite code earlier this year.

Would it only be the 27″? I hope not. That things way too big for my desk, but I’ve been waiting to upgrade my smaller model for the inevitable Retina upgrade.
I’ve been waiting to see what would happen with the iMac. This would do nicely.
Please solve the fan issue which attracts dust and causes the temperature to go up to 60c….not all of us live in the north pole.
Hope there is a 32inch version!
