Apple seeds iOS 8 beta 6 to testing partners ahead of GM seed

IOS 8B

Apple’s software testing partners have reportedly received a new iOS 8 beta build that fixes a whole bunch of bugs present in beta 5. It seems the Cupertino company won’t be making this release available to registered developers, but sources say a GM seed is right around the corner.

“We are told that because we are so close to Apple’s GM build (the final one, barring any huge problems), Apple has not seeded this to developers to test,” reports Boy Genius Report. Testing partners have until September 5 to accept this build, but it is thought one of those has already rejected it due to an issue with YouTube playback in Safari.

A long list of other issues has been addressed with this release, however, including bugs that affected Continuity, FaceTime, GameCenter, iCloud document syncing, Mail, and Maps. Here’s the complete change log obtained by BGR:

As long as there are no major issues with this release, developers should see an iOS 8 GM in the coming weeks. The GM build will be almost identical to the public release — in fact, the first public iOS releases are often GMs with a different build number. It seems we won’t be seeing any new iOS betas before then, however.

a GM release is intact the final version. It is released a little while before just to double check

No it’s not. Last year it had a different code number. I found some bugs on GM.

So then what is the final version called? It’s not Gold Master? What’s the meaning of Gold Master?
