Yesterday was the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz extermination camp..remember ? This is really bad taste humor from my opinion…. maybe the united states are too far from Europe so you didn’t catch the horror of what happenned 65 years ago ? or your history teacher din’t do his job ? …plus it’s not even smart, you could have used this for any product release, actually it has probably been done already… it’s PATHETIC and disrespectful for all the families who suffered the Nazi horrors.

  • Mattzook

    The Apple-haters have no shame.

Lonnie, how about pulling this one down? Not because I am calling for censorship, because we both know this video will be viral and be available in five dozen other anti-Apple websites anyways. I recommend pulling it down… for the sake of decency (and some sensitivity to people who suffered under the Third Reich), and for the sake of CoM having a little more class?

In any case… much worse will follow in this thread, and CoM will eventually be forced to take this thread down anyways if things get out-of-control nasty.

Although I loathe to bow to the PC (politically correct) gods, I have to agree with sebastien here. Regardless of what you think about the iPad, it comes from a cool, innovative and forward-thinking company. To have Hitler even be aware of Apple sort of gives him an air of hipness, which is awful. While I appreciate the funny, well-written subtitles, the only thing that could have redeemed this thing is an “Inglourious Basterds” style ending.

    Hitler. Ain’t. Cool. Ever.

  • Oskar

Sorry, but this is really bad taste posting it here, and so close to the remembrance day. I was hoping for some dignity at CoM.

Hoh! he’s so famous (( Hitler )) and i see he’s always updated in everything, soo funny xD hahaaa

  • Snackhound

Nail on head, and it’s not in bad taste and yes I live in Europe. Get a sense of humour guys. Someone does one if these Hitler responds pieces every day.

  • Buck

@Snackhound I have a sense of humour; the fact that ‘someone does one of these Hitler responds pieces every day’ is reason enough to pull it. It’s incredibly unoriginal, been done to death.

  • martin

No, Hiler is not cool ever, but him getting pissed off about the iPad is hilarious.
it would not bee as funny if it was say Obama, or the king of Sweden or even Bin Laden (ok maybe Bin Laden).

so crying about Hitler being used in this video is lame.
only people who like Hitler could get mad at this.

i will now watch it again and laugh….

  • iFanboy

It’s a clip from a famous, award-winning film starring Bruno Ganz as The Monster, about the last days in Das Bunker.

And it has been used now many times ~ there’s a whole sub-culture of these things, and of course the clever part is writing the subtitles to get angry at the right times.

    Here’s just a few examples:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oXx4yzIugQ&feature=related
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4aQCiRjvZY&feature=related
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfkDxF2kn1I&feature=related

The timing was just unfortunate, but these ‘Hitler parodies’ have been getting done for a while ~ in one version, Der Furious throws a fit because he can’t get a burger. And there’s variations of that. There’s even one I think where The Monster rails against the parodies themselves.

A maybe less politically-sensitive YouTube genre is another series which take the Dolmio animated Italian-family ads and overdub them with foul-mouthed Glaswegians ~ I found them funny too:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXGu68R2NKA&feature=related

You find the comments on YouTube use the same foul language.. and.. in accordance with the spiritual law that “like attracts like” ~ sure enough! ~ on the Hitler parodies involving Apple products, the far-from-dead dictator – seething with loathing – pulls in plenty of HATERS of all that we Macheads love. Strange, if only because PC also means ‘politically correct’.

    I do believe some of these same types will actually CHEER when Steve Jenius eventually leaves this world {hopefully to return to his home planet}

  • HarryMonk

lol, get over it Apple FanBoys.
The iPad is iShite, but moaning over a video of an actor portraying Hitler is pathetic.
I take it all the moaners marched the streets when the film this video was taken from was in the cinema / theatres!
Get a grip, get a life, buy something non apple.

  • Don Pope

I think the video is quite funny.

Also the iPad can’t be all things to all people.
I’m sure it will be very successful as is.
But gen 2.0 will be better.

  • king

    hahaha that was really funny!
The subtitles were awesome, if you listen closely you can notice that some audio corresponds to the subtitles.

I don’t understand the western free world. Its ok to make fun of god, jesus, buddha, who ever you want, because that is considered freedom of speech and if you won’t allow it you are a retarded dictator looking to control the masses. But when Hitler is mentioned, suddenly things are not funny. I mean counting deaths, HItler is not the worst of people, like Stalin killed probably multiple times the amount Hitler did.

before pointing fingers, am not a nazi, I am from the middle east so I was probably going to end up as a slave for the nazis .

  • Brentoni

Middle Eastern people were supporters of the Nazi regime. That’s what I learned from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

  • bubbakush

this is one of the funniest hitler video using the same video,
i like the bin ladden idea :-)
you guys need to relax and listen to some howard stern he knows how the joke about hitler.
racisim sucks but the vid is funny

  • TentosToys

This has been so beaten to death. I saw this same kind of thing for Hitler’s take on falling housing prices, a ponzi scheme collapse, the popularity of the jonas brothers blah blah blah. Let’s stop spreading this around please.

  • zomBoy

Thanks for a great laugh Lonnie!

To other posters: 1. So what if others have used the same idea in different contexts. And 2. I agree with the poster who points out this this is taken from a MOVIE for god’s sake. It doesn’t make AH look cool, it doesn’t make his ideas any less abhorrent, it doesn’t make any difference to anything – as was said, get a life.

  • Cami

I agreed with a lot of what he was saying…

    Whoa.

  • Jim

The man was responsible for the deaths of 25 million plus people and he becomes the poster child for Apple haters. What is wrong with this world, why do people think this crap is funny? It’s sick, it may have been cut from a movie but it is in poor taste. I’m sure the Jews, Slavs and Russians he killed are not laughing. Not to mention the countless number of his own people.

  • Rory Parker

    That was hilarious.
I don’t see why people are being so offended, I know he caused deaths of many innocents, but so did Bin Laden, and there are how many Bin Laden subtitle jokes on TV/the internet?

  • Church of Apple

Wow, what a bunch of sissies some CoMers are. =)

Also, no normal human gives a fuck about multitasking. Most people don’t even know what it means.
