New Screensaver Puts The iOS 7 Lock Screen On Your Mac

Are you the kind of person that likes all of their tech to match up, or else someone that just really loves the iOS lock screen? Either way, you may wish to download a new OS X screensaver, which provides the iOS 7 lock screen experience for Mac users.

The screensaver can be downloaded free of charge, and is optimized for Macs including those models equipped with Retina display — although the website does unfortunately note that “Mavericks isn’t truly supported yet”.

After downloading the file, all users need to do is to trag the file over the screensaver folder in OS X and then activate it using the System Preferences app. By default, the iOS 7 lock screen screensaver will add the “clouds and stars” wallpaper that Apple regularly uses in its promotional materials for iOS devices. Help on finding and using other hidden screensaver images in Mavericks can be found here.

Given that Apple may be on a course to ensure that future versions of OS X closer resemble Jony Ive’s deskeumorphisized vision of the ideal interface (we previously offered readers a showcase of how that might look), this iOS 7 screensaver may prove to be a glimpse of the ghost of Apple yet to come.
