Aatma Studio put together this incredible concept video of a futuristic iPad. The bezel-less, holographic tablet probably won’t hit the shelves for at least a few more years, but a guy can dream! In the meantime, an iPad 3 event next Wednesday will have to satisfy.

I mean its great but not that great. The bezel is there for a reason, so you don’t accidentally touch the screen or hit something you didn’t mean to when holding the device. Also the non-bezel look, now that I see it in the video, isn’t pretty to look at.
I agree, but wouldn’t be cool to have a true full-screen mode like in the video where you could put two side by side for some wide screen movie watching. When you touch it the bezel would be enabled just like you’re used to using.
You don’t need a bezel, you need a few mm wide non-sensitive area on the edge-to-edge display. Steve’s 2007 argument about physical keyboard can be extended to bezel/home button.
Psh.. it doesn’t even have a dock connector. You can’t charge the thing, I bet it runs on Nuclear power and the radiation would kill us all after only a few short weeks… right when the battery would die. It’s the apocalypse machine!
The multi-touch technology, as it exists today, can already discern between a tap/swipe function and that of a finger remaining stationary. It’s not a huge leap to have multi-touch recognize whether or not someone is holding the iPad.
It could be made less obvious, though. I was looking at a concept for an Aston Martin branded smart phone and the thing is a fully transparent slab of ‘crystal’, really aesthetically beautiful – no border whatsoever (i’m assuming that you ‘charge’ the screen like with e-ink or sunroofs/moonroofs to make it dark and readable).
Very true. Perhaps it and the frame appear and disappear as needed basis on something that senses when you have a thumb or fingers also touching the underside.
but when you have it sitting down watching video etc, the black disappears

That should have earned someone a big job offer…
Brazen broad-daylight muggings and Apple Store smash & grabs would sky rocket! Lol.
This looks better than anything Apple will ever make or make available for consumers to buy!!
Perhaps the bezel could be software enabled. There when you need it, gone when you don’t.
You usually need it. It’s the moments when you think you don’t that you touch the screen and chaos follows.

Wow that is totally amazing !
I can’t wait
Makes iPad 3 look, well sort of old before its time!
Bring on iPad 7.

Looks pretty cool for a 2020 concept. I can imagine it as an iPad 5 if we can afford $1000 to buy two of them. :)

Dear God, please let this exist in my life-time.
Also, how do you make such an amazing concept video?
A inch along the border on all sides could be display only, with all touch ignored.
awesome concept video

Looks but would it really work as they show. It is possible it wouldn’t. Especially the hologram stuff
