A political party in Norway has an apple logo. It is bright red, topped with a brown stem and green leaf and frames a large letter F for Fremskrittspariet or Progress Party.

It has been the party logo for 30 years. However, recent tweaks to the design caught the eye of Apple Inc., prompting the tech giant to file a formal complaint with the Norwegian Patent Office.

Engineers are apparently working on an innovative design for the head-mounted display Apple is secretly developing: the company requested a patent for a motorized adjustment system.

Apple doesn’t openly talk about this project but this request, and another the company made recently, leave no room for doubt that the company is researching what will almost certainly be an augmented reality headset.

Apple plans to hire 1,200 for San Diego engineering hub

Apple is beefing up its plans for expansion into San Diego and revealed today that it plans to hire 1,200 people for its tech hub in the SoCal city.

After revealing late last year that it planned to open a site in San Diego, Apple gave new details on what it says will be a principle engineering hub. The move will put Apple directly in rival Qualcomm’s backyard, but Tim Cook isn’t worried about attracting talent to Apple’s offices.

Samsung sends foldable screen samples to Apple

After being one of the first out of the gate with a folding smartphone, Samsung is trying to entice competitors — including Apple — to join the foldable future.

Samsung, which debuted the Galaxy Fold at its Unpacked event on Feb. 20, has reportedly sent some foldable display panel samples to Cupertino in hopes of attracting Apple as a client.
