Report: OS X Lion, Sandy Bridge MacBook Airs To Be Released July 14th

With the Gold Master of Lion now released, the question becomes: when will end users be able to download the latest version of OS X 10.7 through the Mac App Store. We’ve heard July 6th, we’ve heard July 19th, but now a new source is positing a new date: July 14th.

9to5Mac reports:

The release will come through the Mac App Store for $29.99. Separately, a server version of OS X Lion will be available via the Mac App Store for $49.99. This July 14th release date jives with what we have heard regarding the new MacBook Air‘s release date. We cannot confirm, though, that the MacBook Air will be released on Lion day, but it does make sense – seeing that Lion has constantly been marketed alongside the MacBook Air.

Our sources do warn, though, that this release date can be pushed back at anytime due to any last minute bugs.

This date makes a little more sense to us than the July 6th date we’d previously heard reported, in that it gives the Gold Master a couple of weeks in developer’s hands to make sure there are no bugs.

Anyone getting whiplash from all these dates being thrown around? Hey, one of them’s bound to be right!
