This YouTube compilation was first posted to MacRumors as the interface we might see on a forthcoming OS X iPod. To be honest, the graphics look right, but something here isn’t right. Specifically, the aspect ratio. All of the clips are in 4:3, horizontally oriented, exactly like the existing video iPod. If Apple does roll out a new iPod with an iPhone-like interface, it should get a nice rectangular screen in place for widescreen movies. In fact, it should just look like an iPhone, but with some distinguishing design features.

I wouldn’t be shocked if this clip is legit. I also wouldn’t be stunned to learn it’s a fake.

Well, it’s obviously not for a multi-touch interface. Watch the world clock demo, they show an add/delete option. Notice it is a jerky action when it switches from add to delete, similar to scroll wheel selection. If it were multi-touch it would likely two separated buttons, or the action would be far more fluid at the least.

I doubt it’s really anyway. Far too complex for an simple iPod.

Is this is the same video that was on the MacRumors site? According to them, Apple requested they remove it. If that’s true, then that gives the impression that there is a real possibility that this is legit.

That looks terrible. Apple would NOT release an iPod with an interface like that. The way the menu so abruptly cuts off and shows a slice of the album art…it’s too sloppy to be real. I especially don’t believe it with the way the album art was crooked when you played the song. Unless you can decide to view the artwork crooked. Which…would be an odd setting. I don’t know. I don’t think this is real.
