Ever needed a way to use your iPhone to control your iPad camera, or vice versa? No? How about using your iPod touch as a baby monitor, with an iPad upstairs to monitor your baby’s nap time? Or keeping an eye on a pet in the other room with your iPhone? You might want to take a picture with your iPhone on a tripod, to get a large group of people in the shot, because let’s face it, no one’s arm is that long.
With Blux Lens, a remote for Blux Camera, you can do just that. Here’s how.
Make sure you have two iOS devices, like an iPhone and an iPad. Download Blux Camera onto the device you want to be the camera, and then put Blux Lens on the device you want to control the other devices camera from. Make sure both of your devices are on the same WiFi network, too.
Next, launch Blux Lens on the iOS device you installed it on, and swipe through the tutorial. On the last swipe, you’ll get a QR code that you need to scan with the device you installed Blux Camera on. Launch Blux Camera, then tap the little triangle in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Tap the icon of the two iphones connecting, and then point this device’s camera at the QR code on the remote Lens.
Now the first iOS device will be your Lens and the second will be your Camera. Place the first device anywhere, and then use the second to take pictures. In my case, I installed Lens on my iPhone and Camera on my iPad. I placed the iPhone downstairs on a little stand to see what my dogs are up to while I used the iPad upstairs in my office. Slick!
