How Much Data Do You Use?

By

IMG_0698

As you can see from the image above, I’m just 338.3MB shy from using 20GB of cellular data for this past billing period. Fortunately for me, I have an unlimited data plan, so I use the crap out of my phone for things like watching YouTube videos and downloading files overnight. So, how much data do you use? Please take part in the poll below, and feel free to leave your comments.

  2. Marco Ortiz says:

my record is 21.3 GB on March

holy cap – 20GB on cellular data?? Here in NZ Im on a Smart3 plan with Vodafone, that gives me 3GB for NZ$80/month. Even teathering for work I never even get close to 3GB!!! Oh, and it’s NZ$10/GB after that!

  4. Conrad says:

I live in Canada, and like the Kiwis we pay through the nose for cellular data. I pay $25/month for 500mb of Data. I have the option of $30 for 1GB, but that’s it. I use anywhere from 200-350MB/month.

  5. nthnm says:

I usually use about 600MB out of my 1GB available. That’s mainly because I’m usually somewhere that has a wifi network.

  6. Darrius Taylor says:

I hit 4GBs but nowhere near yours. Tether occasionally. Unlimited also. Glad I didn’t upgrade. Am I right?

  7. Mitchell Busby says:

And then people complain about the networks being choked! Seriously, guys, is this downloading really necessary?

  8. Ewan D. Kennedy says:

     completely agree

I use waaay to much data. Thats the main reason I went with the Verizon iPhone 4. Now I’m hearing Verizon is doing away with their unlimited plan by the end of summer, thank god I’m already signed up cause i need my 15gigs a month lol

  10. Austin Schoepflin says:

Look, I work full time doing data entry for an insurance firm. I sit in a cubicle and type all day, which is awful but the only plus is we are aloud to have headphones in. So everyday I’m on Stitcher/Netflix/Mediafly/Pandora streaming music and podcasts. This is why I pay for unlimited and I’m not going to feel bad about keeping myself entertained at work just because I use massive amounts of data. If I cared about how much data I use i wouldn’t have signed up for unlimited. Just saying

  11. Cgs101 says:

    blimey … I don’t think I’ve ever gone above 400mbs on the iPhone…
I don’t tether though and I don’t watch youtube vids on the tiny screen either!

  12. Wierdninja says:

Anyone who thinks AT&T and Verizon are justified in capping Data plans after they lured in customers with unlimited Data are either employees of those companies or just don’t have a clue that they are being ripped off.  Why do you think there is such a big push to put everything in “The Cloud”?  Extra generated revenue for these greedy corporations.  Lets see, you pay for your Data plan, then you pay for your storage space, and then, you pay for the “extra bandwidth” to use the stuff in “The Cloud”.  Who’s smarter?  You, or Them?  Get a clue America.

My reason comes from not having 3G service available, only when I drive 100 miles to the nearest major metro area, then I see my battery drop like a rock when I do use 3G.   I’m quite happy since I don’t care to use streaming video or music anyway.    Why stream everything when you can have it all right there on your device, I just don’t get it.

    Why not use WiFi?

  15. moopenguin32 says:

I’ve used about 750 MB on average in the last 6 months. Ever since getting an iPad in November, I’ve used my iPhone 3GS less at home. I don’t do anything data intensive on my iPhone while on the go. If I have time to kill while I’m out waiting in line or something, I’ll check Twitter or Facebook, but that’s about it.

  16. Leaeno says:

Question , how did you get that A,T,&T logo in the top left corner? Thanks JL

  17. trrosen says:

Your not allowed to bitch about unlimited data going away if your the cause. Yes you are the cause bandwidth hog.

  18. Frank says:

I’ve got unlimited so I have no idea whatsoever how much I use.

  24. Giancarlo Tambone says:

Yeah! How dare people use those unlimited data plans they pay out the ass for?

  25. Ronald Stepp says:

We’re not the cause.  You are buying into their tactic to divide people against themselves by creating data class warfare.

  26. Charles says:

    Jailbreak.

  27. jnjnjn2 says:

I use about 50MB of data per month. I do have an ‘unlimited data’ contract, but WiFi is much faster so I use that almost all the time.

  28. Alex-Spider Hewitt says:

500mb. Damn capped mobile data. I’m capable of hitting it in a couple of days. I used to be on a data plan labelled “unlimited”, A.K.A 1GB. Fail.

  29. Jamesro says:

My record was 312GB in 9 months. I tethered my iPhone 3G and got 350kb/s download speed. However once it got really hot i literally had to put it on ice :-/

  30. Austin Schoepflin says:

not available at my job else i would, not because I care but because WiFi is faster lol.
