If you like your bleepy music with a healthy dose of retro, you might like to know that right now on the iOS Store you can grab a copy of the latest virtual synthesizer from electronic music pioneers Moog – for just 99 cents.
The Animoog app is on special offer for a while, after which it will go up to a far less impulse-worthy $29.99.
It’s a professional polyphonic synth, and at this price it’s got something to offer for everyone. If you’re a musician, you get some serious retro-style kit to compose on. Even if you don’t have a musical bone if your body, you get a hugely fun musical toy to keep yourself (or your kids) occupied for hours. To make the fun last longer, try messing around with the different preset tones from the drop-down box just under the left corner of the grid.
There’s a vast selection of additional filters, modules and timbres on offer, so the knowledgeable among you can indulge your Brian Eno fanboy fantasies until your fingers fall off. I’d be doing exactly that, if I knew enough about how to play the damn thing. I should never have abandoned those piano lessons when I was a kid.
The special offer lasts for 30 days. Grab this bargain while you can.

For those interested you should check out the documentary Moog. Its a great look at dr Robert Moog the creator of these wonderful machines.
NOTE: With the release of this app, Moog is also making their iPhone/iPod Touch app Filtatron available for $0.99 for a limited time (regularly $7.99). It currently has some issues with iOS 5, but Moog has posted that they are working to resolve them.
Warning! Giles doesn’t state that Animoog, is for the iPad only. Filtatron, however does work on both the iPhone and iPad.
