Apple has announced another promotion celebrating the 25 billionth download from the App Store. As the huge milestone draws near, Apple is encouraging customers to enter to win a $10,000 App Store gift card for hitting the lucky number.
If you’re fortunate enough to download the 23 billionth app, you could win $10,000 to spend in the App Store!
As of today, nearly 25 billion apps have been downloaded worldwide. Which is almost as amazing as the apps themselves. So we want to say thanks. Download the 25 billionth app, and you could win a US$10,000 App Store Gift Card.* Just visit the App Store and download your best app yet.
You can manually fill out an official entry form to be considered. Anyone who downloads an app from the App Store will also be entered automatically. Apple notes that “the downloading of the 25 billionth app is considered to be either the downloading of the 25 billionth app from the App Store or the receipt of the non-purchase entry after the download of the 24,999,999,999th app, whichever comes first.”
The last time Apple promoted such a contest was when the App Store hit 10 billion downloads in January of 2011. The last winner was Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, UK. She won $10,000 from Apple for downloading the free Paper Glider app.
What app will when this time?

It’s all mine. Everyone stop getting apps.Â
Kind of useless since you can only use it in the App Store though right? I’d be so pissed off if someone told me I won $10,000 but only could spend it on SOFTWARE, not a vacation, or a car, or bitches, just software. Still be cool to win it though.
ehhem…. “If you’re fortunate enough to download the 23 billionth app, you could win $10,000 to spend in the App Store!” 25 billionth, not 23rd :P
I’m assuming you can use it to buy any Apple product that you choose, through the Apple Store app. I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure you can use your credits for that.
No you can buy everything in the iTunes store including Movies, Music, Apps, Books, TV Shows etc.
Mine is getting low, already down to $ 3,996.18, going to for win #2!
This website claims to predict when the counter will hit 25 billion:

Interesting!
I’ll try my chance http://www.stic.us
That includes things in the Mac App Store too
Estimated date count down: http://apple-25-000-000-000-co…
I have been keeping track of the countdown with my family and have noticed apple’s countdown to be completely wrong. We have been whatsapping pictures of the countdown to each other in order to be able to start downloading once the countdown nears 25 billion. We have noticed the countdown to have gone backwards a large sum. If CultOfMac is interested in the pictures for proof please email me to [email protected]. I believe Apple Inc. should be punished for cheating people with this erroneous countdown.
Where can you check the current count?
