In the tech world, there is not much time to rest on your laurels. With the iPhone 4S flying off shelves, it’s time to turn our attention to the next big thing on the horizon: the iPad 3. The third-generation Apple tablet could appear early next year, according to a Friday report.
One Wall Street analyst says Apple is pumping up iPad production during the fourth quarter by about a million units. That increase is viewed as a sign the iPad 3 is already in the works – perhaps unveiled in early 2012.
“We are now seeing 600,000 to 1 million iPad 3 builds showing up on the plan for the fourth quarter of calendar 2011,” Susquehanna Financial analyst Jeff Fidacaro told the Wall Street Journal’s All Things Digital. Apple has expanded iPad production to 12 million to 14 million units, up from 11 million to 13 million, he said.
If we were to speculate when the iPad 3 might appear, Apple introduced the iPad 2 in March of 2011. However, as in the case of the iPhone 4S’ October unveiling, the tech giant’s calendar is not as rigid as in the past.

Wow.. Some ppl are still trying to activate their shiny new iPhone 4s.. And others are already throwing rumors about the next product to launch.. Take a day off!! Lol
These analysts can shove their prognostications. They don’t know anything and if they do happen to be right…well it’s the old broken clock story. These bozos are either stating the obvious or pulling wild guesses from their butts. The whole iPhone 4, 5 debacle has made these kind of news irrelevent and worthless.
with the time scheme, its entirely possible. Technically, Apple has probably been working on an actual inovative 3 since before the 2 launched. The iphone timeline is evidence that this is how they work: create original product, small updates to the product, and then new product. Either the next ipad is a 4g retina display device… or its something we cant imagine until we see it.
but yeah, this is something i figured out about apple back in october ’10 when everyone was FIRST expecting a 5, and im a second semester theater major at a city college. Obviously, these “annalist” are more fan boy hype generators than actual business specialist.
It might be best to start thinking iPad 2S…
