Analyst: iPad to Own 60% of Tablet Market into 2020

Apple rivals are more likely to fight amongst themselves then score a knock-out blow against the iPad, one Wall Street expert said Monday. The iconic iPad will still have 60 percent of the market by 2020, he contends.

“Future tablets are more likely to steal share from one another than from the iPad,” Needham analyst Charlie Wolf tells investors. Despite Motorola’s Android-based Xoom, RIM’s QNX-based PlayBook and HP’s webOS-powered TouchPad, all “have been greeted with a yawn and lackluster sales,” he adds.

So far, the iPad cannot be touched on price or the all-important app count. The iPad’s parts costs “are materially lower than those of competing tablets,” according to the analyst.

As for apps, which Wolf describes as what turns “a slab into a versatile device”, Apple again has a dominant lead. Rivals have a best “hundreds” of apps compared to “more than 100,000” on the iPad, he said.

Innovation happens but unless somebody lucks into beating the iPad, this is a VERY realistic prediction!

I just paid $ 23.86 for an iPhone and my girlfriend loves her Dell laptop that we got for $ 38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 42 inch LED TV to my boss for $ 665 which only cost me $ 62,81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, GrabPenny.com

I’m sorry, this is complete utter B.S.

If the iPad is expected to have about 63% of the market after 2 years on the market, how is it even possible to lose only 3% for the next 9 years? And does the Analyst even know that there will be window slates out by next year?  those slates will do more damage than these webOS, blackberry or Android tablets are attempting to do.

I’m a long-term Mac fanboi and all, but these analyst predictions are just getting out of hand.  Who the hell knows what will happen to the computer industry two years from now.  Anything can take place.  Even some miracle that Windows 8 tablets will become popular is a possibility, although very, very unlikely.  Just kidding.  I just wouldn’t put too much stock in such long-term predictions as being useful at all.

Have to admit that the iPad really is innovativem, and deliver an experience that a mass market enjoys and appreciates.
Just like my iPad, watching movies,it’s much portable! though lack flash support, but with some tools like ifunia can easily solve the problem; check emails, surfing, reading, playing games, and seems can developing  my nephew’s intelligence!
I totally believe it can be the winner for the next Decade!
