If you’re like me, and want to keep your Apple investments protected, then this early iPad 2 case by Griffin is just for you. It’s similar to the original and official Apple iPad case in terms of functionality, but it’s made of some pretty decent leather with a suede inner lining. It retails for $39.99, and it’s a perfect buy (considering the iPad 2 was only launched just yesterday). Continue reading to check it out!
I originally stopped by one of my local Best Buy’s to pickup a Smart Cover, because the plastic wrapping around the iPad was getting pretty orritating. Luckily, Best Buy had the Griffin Elan Folio Slim for the iPad 2. I was really glad to see this case, because there’s no way I could use a Smart Cover without getting the back scratched, based on the way I use my iPad on a day-to-day basis.
The inside of the case has a nice suede material, to keep the front of your iPad 2 protected while the cover is closed. The case also has all of the cutouts you need: rear-facing camera, side-switch + volume button, power button, top microphone, 3.5mm headset jack, 30-pin dock connetor.
This case also doubles as a stand. You can stand your iPad up so that you can watch videos, or you can set it down so that it’s at a perfect typing angle.
Overall, I love this case. The design, availability, and functionality is great. If you’re desparate to keep your new iPad 2 protected while still offering all of its functionality, then this is definitely the case to get.

really?
does it have magnets to turn the display on and off?
I bought one for my wife and I’s new iPads. While it does a much better job of protecting the complete device, I think they are pieces of crap! It looks like they were rushed out as the two I have are cut a little off in the screen window.
Still, all in all, not too bad since it keeps the whole thing covered. I can’t wait for the really nice cases to come out in the next month or so. My case for my old iPad held up very well and kept it nice and safe.
I bought one from Best Buy I like it so far.
“Smart Cover, because I the plastic wrapping”
I think you are missing a word.
Good point, it would only need one in the one spot to do it.
Thanks, fixed.
i like it, it looks very professional.

I saw this at Best Buy also and it was so thin & cheap looking i decided not to get it. I got the smart cover and the Targus crave slipcase instead to keep everything in one case.
I agree it protect well but feels cheap. Not at all as nice as the apple version it aims to replicate. But it will do for the time being until a better case comes around.
What youre saying is completely true. I know that everybody must say the same thing, but I just think that you put it in a way that everyone can understand. They fit so well with what youre trying to say. Im sure youll reach so many people with what youve got to say.

I think you are previous user or now wish to buy it. Always keep in with iPad 2

Case is made from pleather not leather. Very poorly constructed.
I just bought one based on this article. Got it at Best Buy. Cost $39 which is way too much for the amount of quality that this case has (not much). Not nearly as perfect as the Apple iPad 1 cover. I bought it only because I need a case now that protects the entire iPad.
Anyone got the SKU?
I bought one today – 4-30-11 and it is THE finest case made. Where I have the Stylus-R-Us Roger iWand – (which is unreal on the iPad) it fits in the fold/hinge of this case so I can carry it with me everywhere also. Great combination. There is no other case to have. Believe that.
This is the worst case I have laid my hands on, it doesnt fit very well (slides around inside meaning buttons and holes are never in the right place. The felt feels horrible and the leather is fake. Griffin really need to think about what they put on the market in future. It is like a kid wearing his grandads pants, just baggy and horrible. I would never buy one again and as a result have gone off Griffin period!
To all their own, I suppose. A case is a case to me. As long as adds some protection (which this case does) and some functionality (which this case does), then great.
