Jailbreak artist Comex has been hinting at plans to dust off Jailbreakme.com for a while now, allowing users on compatible iOS devices to jailbreak their systems just by loading the page in Mobile Safari. But what devices will be supported?
All of them running iOS 4.2.1 to iOS 4.3.3, for one. The iPad 2 for another. Hoorah!
Here’s the Twitter exchange:
@comex can u maybe alert everyone as to which iOS version this upcoming release will work on?? (ipad 2 btw) currently mines on 4.3.1….
Comex’s reply:
@J_mac890 4.2.1-4.3.3
Anyone else out there looking forward to jailbreaking their iPad 2?

I haven’t updated my iPad 2 for the very reason of JB!!
looking foward to it since i got mine… hope its out soon..
I’ve been jailbroken before… I just don’t see the point in doing it after considering all the bugs, making the device more vulnerable, and the added fact that it does almost everything (better) without jailbreaking it.
Am I missing something?

ummm…we kinda learned that about…hmm, maybe 1-2 weeks ago. it was pretty obvious by both p0sixninja’s and comex’s tweets.
@facebook-756771584:disqus , I have had my iPhone 4 jailbroke for 6+ months and have never had any stability issues. It runs as smooth as the day I got it and the battery doesn’t drain any quicker either.
There are several features worth Jailbreaking for, that I don’t know I could live without anymore:
– biteSMS: the quick reply feature is reason enough. When a message comes in, you don’t have to close the app you’re in, load the messages app, and send the message, and come back to the original app. Instead, you get a popup window to type your message, and once you hit send, the popup fades away leaving you right where you were. (Of course this will be less of a necessity with the new notification system).
– Multiflow: view your running apps Expose style.
– iBlacklist: create blacklists of phone numbers that should be sent directly to voicemail, or receive a busy signal, for when you don’t want to be bothered by specific people, but want to be available for others.
– My3G: use Facetime, and download apps of any size from the app store, over 3G.
– YourTube: download YouTube videos to phone/iPod.
– PhotoMail: attach photos to emails.
– FullScreen for Safari
– AdBlocker: block ads in Safari
– User Agent Faker: load desktop version of sites by default in Safari.
– Flip Over: if your phone is face down, it will be muted, and locked. (This is the only app that can kill your battery life as it has to check every so often to see if the phone is face down).
– iProtect: passcode lock specific apps
– Weather Icon: weather icon on the status bar.
Although these may not seem like huge or necessary features, they increase the iPhone’s functionality considerably.
hooray, can’t wait!
I’m hoping it comes this week, maybe Sunday?

But when lord when?
Thank you for this.
Is it out yet? I would like to get mine jailbreak too :)
Oh, please, don’t put your complaints here. How come it’s only a few CERTAIN people who get problems (and also seem to be either Apple haters, jailbreak noobs who only heard of jailbreaking, or Apple employees)? To add onto that, they put in BS to support their claims…
I am an experienced jailbreaker of more than two and a half years and have never, EVER, seen a single bug on any of my devices (ipt4g,ipt2g, and iPhone 4), even when I first started jail breaking.
Second, my security has never been compromised because of my jailbreak. In fact, I consider it even safer ( double password protection for apps, ad blocking, fake location, firewall, etc.)
Your third claim is simply a piece of sh*t. In what miniscule part of iOS have you found that you could do things better without jailbreaking? Jailbreaking is to enhance your iDevice, not destroy it.
If I were you, I’d try again and see what I really missed. After all, you can’t just try a single tweak and call jailbreaking stupid.
Aser, You should be ashamed of yourself, please leave hate off the internet.
Chris, there are advantages to jailbreaking your ios device, the only disadvantage is that you no longer have apple holding your hand. apple is good at protecting its users, but advanced users can recognise threats for themselves and accept the consequences.
Aser1234: everything you said is right on the money, 100% correct. As a jailbreaker going on 2 years I have not once found a situation where I would have been better off (or preferred being) not jailbroken. God bless the jailbreak heroes (comex, posixninja, saurik, and the rest). The features and functionality I get from my iPhone and iPad after jailbreaking are so awesome. I honestly don’t understand why most don’t jailbreak, oh yeah, it’s fear.
I agree. There shouldnt be fights over jailbreaking. if ya like it, ya like it, and if ya dont, ya dont.
I apologize about the hate part of my rant…i was just upset that someone would simply denounce jailbreaking without proper information to back it up. How is there less security? What specific bugs did you encounter? What is there in iOS that you can do better than with a jailbreak tweak? I, personally, love Apple for its hardware more than its software, and to make both equal in my mind, I jailbreak the devices.
If anyone feels offended at all by my speech, I am sincerely sorry.
hey look that was my twitter :)!!! haha see i knew other ppl were curious as well :P
there is something I don’t get it… When the dev team, chronic team or whatever team will understand that, they are working for mac, Indirectly, if you think, most of the “NEW” features done by the “new” OS were tools that were sell or even get for free in the Cydia Store,,, correct me if I am wrong… Also, In my country, I can only use an Iphone, factory Unlock or with gevey, because of the lack of sellers (the local company Sells it, but it sucks big time, government company.. I said), so, the unlock and the JB are part of the process, without this tools, Apple will sell half of their phones, so why they do not instead of being the ones following apple, apple must follow them

This news will not make Apple happy or any carrier who is selling Apple devices. This is really good to jailbreak the Apple devices to use another features of it which will give you full satisfaction.

IPad Jailbreak, there are some good reasons for doing this, one of the main reasons iPad is a standard does not provide unlimited functionality as iPhone released. iPadders who are afraid of voiding the warranty do not worry, you can always restore to factory settings with iJailbreakTool. There are many good reasons to jailbreak your iPhone, but the main reason is to introduce you and your jailbroken iPhone that can offer unlimited possibilities.
