I think it’d be awesome to know what these people do with their setups. The one with the music equipment is pretty self-explanatory, but I’d love to hear about the others!
Ahrrr i’m the first! wh1tese0w wanted me to explan my setup. I’m a photographer, videoeditor and programmer. It all just has to work … i’m using a 27″ iMac the first, quad core, with an old 23″ HP screen, under that my external harddrive. Logitech G700 with a Mac keyboard and touchpad.
The Macbook is the all new 17″ and the camera is a Canon EOS 60D with a 16-35mm 2.8L.
All of this is accurate, the screen(27″) show the right colors and the soundsystem plays the right notes.
Alex Acevedo’s setup is sweet! (what’s the big screen’s brand/model?) I wanna do the same so I’m selling my iMac & getting a good led display instead & relying on my MacBook Air for my computing needs… Any suggestions on a great led tv?
I just p a i d $21.87 for an i P a d 2-64GB and my boyfriend loves his Panasonîc Lumîx GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS.I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $657 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from,http://bit.ly/PennyOrder
Oh, I omitted some additional Apple hardware that could not make the picture, a 2006 Intel Mac mini (with Apple Keyboard and Pro Mouse), a first Gen. Time Capsule, Airport Express, and an iPod Shuffle 1G (autographed by Trent Reznor BTW). I used my Nikon DSLR for the shot though the light was a bit warm and I did not adjust the white balance appropriately, sorry.
Lol! You’re sweet, and I’m a girl (know many male Ariellas do you?), but I have some advice about your pick-up technique:
1-Asking women if they’re real is not very attractive. 2-Proposing marriage after #1, is REALLY not attractive.
:D
Glad you like my setups! These are from a few years ago. I still have the Mac SE but it’s in storage. On my black desk now I now have a 21.5″ iMac 3.06GHz and a Tangerine iBook. I sold the digital piano and MIDI controller and am now simply using a Korg X-50 (music here: http://ariellab.bandcamp.com). Both speaker monitors died after their warranty period. I’m so disappointed with Rokit! I’ll be getting some Yamahas next.
It’s a Mac SE with internal 10MB Quantum SCSI drive. The drive started acting up and so now it runs off an external SCSI Zip drive. (Which is MUCH faster and offers greater storage!)
I didn’t have a matching chair for the desk yet, so I usually dragged over a chair from the dining room. :) It didn’t look good enough to become part of the shot.
Its a Panasonic AE4000 projector. Any full HD LED display with HDMI would work with your Air. Make sure you get the correct mini display port to HDMI adapter cause some older macs don’t send audio through mini display port. I recommend installing Air Server on the Macbook Air for Airplay and getting a Twelve South MagicWand for your keyboard and track-pad
I see.. I like having a TV over a projector as I care so much for the image sharpness & I think I’ll need a $$$ projector to achieve that..! Nice setup though ;) I think Kanex iAdapt MDPHDMIv2 & a 55″ Sony Bravia is the way to go..
Nope no SSD – My next iMac has a SSD and HHD though :) i’m not sure what difference it’s going to make? My iMac is plenty fast for Final cut pro … havn’t tried After Effects yet :)
3 monitors? For me that will have to be 2* 27″ (apple or dell) and One new iMac …

What intrigues me the most about these setups is that a year or two ago, everyone with a setup worth showing off would have a Mac Pro as a centerpiece. Now at least half the time, it’s a 27″ iMac. This also means that, despite the addition of iPads and iPhones, the price of a quality setup has plunged. I have a $3,000 27″ iMac setup due to the SSD and i7 processor, and it’s still far less expensive than the Mac Pro setups used to be. (Alas, it’s already obsolete thanks to being the previous non-Thunderbolt generation, but it’s still a gorgeous piece of kit.)
Yes they have! I Remember when I sold an originally $2700 2GHz DualCore G5 PowerMac to buy a $1299 2GHz intel Macbook. The Macbook could run circles around the Powermac in media conversion, tracks of audio in Logic, and more!
I was so shocked by the price vs performance differences. It made no sense! What did make sense was Apple’s switch to Intel processors, demonstrated to me through THAT experience.

i had pretty much same setup 50d + 27″ iMac but didn’t have enough desktop space,
swapped out the single 27″ for 3 22″s and upgraded my camera to a 5d, are u using SSD for video editing cause it MAKES A HUGE difference

Alex Acevedo’s setup is totally my style. Is that a tv or a projector screen? Well done.
Panasonic PT-AE4000 Projector

I love DSLR filmmaking! my F1.2 or F1.4 kills any camcorder out there – in low light that is :)
And the weight makes me feel like a man! :D
Alex Acevedo for browsing porn = WIN

Times have surely changed!

Crazy question, but can anyone tell where I can get a desk like the one in Harry Slotwiner’s pic?? The wife would love it.

I’ve seen way better.
