Apple Watch and its revolutionary UI were in the making for three years, and even though it was revealed less than a week ago, it only took Android Wear four days to copy it.

Android Wear users who don’t want to wait until early 2015 to try Apple’s UI can get a taste of neutered version of it via a copycat watchface called Pear from UhrArt that imitates the bubbly homescreen of Apple Watch.

When Google announced Android Wear back in July, the company showed the world what a great smartwatch platform should be like. With a simple user interface and all the right features, it highlighted the flaws in almost every other wearable we had already seen from Samsung and Sony and others.

But now Android Wear has a new competitor. Apple Watch, announced on Tuesday alongside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, delivers a new operating system packed with useful features that’s more than capable of competing with Google’s. So how can the search giant fight back and ensure a successful future for Android Wear?

Apple and Google appeal rejection of $325m settlement in wage-fixing suit

Four tech giants, including Apple and Google, have attacked the decision of U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh for rejecting a proposed $324.5 million settlement over Silicon Valley hiring practices.

In a court filing made later on Thursday, Apple, Google, Intel and Adobe asked the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to overrule Koh’s verdict.

Koh had rejected the proposed settlement, claiming the amount was too low.

Huawei’s Ascend G7 is a midrange iPhone lookalike made out of metal

Samsung can’t go for long without feeling the need to lash out at Apple with a new ad. This time it’s the recently-launched Galaxy Tab S tablet, which is the center of a “Hands-On” commercial, showing a Samsung spokesman going around New York City, letting “random” members of the public pick between the new Galaxy Tab S and iPad Air.

Samsung might bet its future on exec who brokered Apple deal

The man tipped to take over Samsung as chairman was the only Samsung executive invited to attend Jobs’ 2011 memorial service.

46-year-old Lee Jae Yong is the son of current Samsung chairman Lee Kun-hee, who suffered a major heart attack in May this year.

While relatively little is known about Lee Jae Yong he is considered to be the executive responsible for helping build the relationship with Apple that sees Samsung supply components for Apple devices, dating back to the iPod.

Flappy Bird dev accused of ripping off idea for Swing Copters

Swing Copters, the latest title from Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen, is in the limelight yet again this week following claims it plagiarizes another mobile game.

Development studio Open Name says the super-addictive title is a ripoff of Bog Racer, a game they released on Android back in July that was recently pulled from the Play Store after Google decided it was a Swing Copters clone.

Smartphone charged by ambient sound could free us from power supplies

Researchers in the U.K. have developed a cellphone that is charged by ambient sound, eliminating the need for a charger. Filled with energy-harvesting “nanogenerators,” the device uses a principal called the piezoelectric effect to turn the sound vibrations in the atmosphere around it into energy.
