Apple’s latest lineup of MacBook Air ultraportables just hit the Apple online store, and as expected, these babies are packing Intel’s latest Sandy Bridge Core i5 and i7 processors and the company’s high-speed Thunderbolt technology, and backlit keyboards as standard.
All models pack a new Intel 3000 graphics processor and now feature a backlit keyboard like that in the MacBook Pros.
Prices start at $949 — $50 less than the last generation — for the entry-level 11-inch model, which boasts a 1.6GHz Core i5 processor, said to be 2.5% faster than the last model’s 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU. There’s also 64GB of storage and 2GB of RAM.
For $1,149 you can get the high-end 11-inch model with the same Core i5 processor at 1.6GHz, but with 128GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. Alternatively, there’s a build-to-order option that will allow you to purchase a 1.8GHz Core i7 processor, 4GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
As for the 13-inch, prices start at $1,249 and get you a 1.7GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The high-end 13-inch model costs $1,549 and features the same 1.7GHz processor and 4GB of RAM, but with 256GB of storage. You can also build-to-order the 13-inch model to get a 1.8GHz Intel Core i7 processor.
