Apple’s Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad could be about to get a refresh.
Shipping estimates for the existing model, which launched just four months ago, have slipped to a surprising six to seven weeks. A new model could arrive alongside the exciting iMac Pro this December.
The Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad is Apple’s first wireless keyboard that combines the slim and simple design of the Magic Keyboard with an extended keyboard layout. Before its debut in June, you could only buy a wired model.
Alongside the number pad, the keyboard has full-size arrow keys, and dedicated buttons for things like home, end, page up, and page down. These keys cannot be found on the more compact Magic Keyboard, which ships within days.
A refresh could be coming
Apple will be launching the keyboard in space gray alongside the iMac Pro to compliment its new design. However, the shipping delay on the existing model suggests a refresh could be coming. It’s likely to be small since the current model is still fresh.
It’s possible Apple will do away with the eject key, since none of its computers ship with an optical drive anymore. Possible replacements could include a dedicated Siri key, like that which sits in the Touch Bar by default on the MacBook Pro.

and probably still no Touch Bar?!!
Battery life, my friend. If you’re going to stick an OLED touch bar on there you might as well leave the cable plugged in all the time.
Never understood why Apple dropped the alpha-numeric keypad from the wireless model and when at last it has seen the error of its ways, a full wireless model without an eject key is going to be of no use to me since I use a late, White Intel model.
