Apple has rolled out its first emoji sticker packs for Messages in iOS 10. Available only to those testing its first beta release, the packs include the Smileys, Hearts, and Hands stickers found on Apple Watch — plus a Classic Mac collection.

Stickers are all part of Apple’s big Messages overhaul, which will make the most-used app on iOS even more addictive. They’re a lot like the emoji characters we’re already familiar with, but they’re bigger — and they move!

If you’re already running the iOS 10 beta, you can download these sticker packs through iTunes Preview. You will already be familiar with Smileys, Hearts, and Hands if you’re an Apple Watch user, but Classic Mac is new.

Stickers are installed as mini apps — like third-party keyboards — and are then accessed in the Messages app drawer. Sending them is as easy as tapping your chosen sticker, or you can “peel” and place them around chat bubbles, images, and more.

Over time, we’ll see more and more sticker packs like these — many of which will come from third-party designers. In rival messaging apps such as WeChat, stickers are already incredibly common, and a massive money-maker.

Every other day I see an article about emoji. Ok, it’s a sticker now, but same shit.
Really? Are they REALLY that important outside of the communication of 14 yos?

Not exactly related to the article but I’m really baffled by how much time goes into this rather meaningless thing even on Apple’s end. Not to mention crap like “bouncy messages”. It feels many are regressing back to the mental level of children. Safe zones, emoji spamming people over 40, beyond abysmal ads that are effective, people who’re unable to hold a normal argument, what have you. There should be a difference between being playful and being a tard. I mean, we should be excited about this: “but they’re bigger — and they move!” Come on.

I think you are missing the point. As time progresses younger people are coming into the technological world, and expressive communication is becoming huge as this is happening. So instead of being late to the party, they are building a platform now that the up and coming core audience can relate with and use easily. It may seem stupid to you, and its useless to me, but the legion of high schoolers and below that have Apple products(which is a large amount) will eat that crap up. Complain all you want but its smart business.

My problem is not the “supply” but the demand for this kind of supply in such amount.

Welp, reading back that post, I sound a bit like an old “back in my times” geezer not someone in his late twenties. Oh well.
