Apple’s long since abandoned the beige plastic cases and rainbow-hued logos that were synonymous with the brand’s aesthetic during the ’80s. But if your favorite Apple design is still the Apple IIe, here’s the iPhone for you: the Colorware iPhone 6s Retro edition.

The Colorware iPhone 6s Retro gives the latest iPhone models a custom vintage makeover based on the Apple IIe. Although the actual design and innards of the smartphone are the same, the iPhone 6S Retro (and its big brother, the iPhone 6s Plus Retro) bakes a throwback beige color into the aluminum, and even adds some faux air vents like on Apple’s old computers. The logo, too, has been updated with the rainbow Apple logo of yore.

It’s been a long time since we’ve written about Colorware, but we used to write about them all the time. Colorware is a Minnesota-based company that specializes in giving your gadgets slick custom colors, albeit at a premium price. Re-anodizing aluminum in different colors ain’t cheap!

Couple the aforementioned with the fact that thes, so expect to pay a lot for the Colorware iPhone 6s Retro: prices start at $1,600, depending on configuration.

As a Minnesotan – I’m happy to support these guys but $1600 for a fancy paint job is a bit out of my league.

    Dear “Cult of Mac”,

I understand that running adBlock may be “damaging” to your company but for you to bring that to our attention is bullshit. What I do with my computer is my business, how dare you question my google chrome extension. If you’re concerned about it then close up your website and start charging per site entry, see how many readers you’ll have then.

You know you can also just adblock their annoying new adblock disclaimer, works like a charm.

Consider being less of an asshole when you express an opinion. Their comment on adblocking costing them money is correct, and while I agree with you that CoM could probably be a bit nicer about asking to be whitelisted, you could be a tad more nice telling them that. After all, they did spend the time writing and posting the article.
