You have a great picture of your kid on their first day of school and you would like to share it with just two people. You could post to Facebook or Instagram, but then everyone sees it. You could attach it to an email or text or you could just pass the phone over the next time you see them.
The company XY has another option. It has designed a Bluetooth device the size of a keychain that lets you share an album of pictures with select people.
Think of the XY Share It as a transmitter and the pictures you send out can only go to people with the free XY Share It app in their phone who are on your approved list.
XY, which developed the XY Find It, a homing tag you can attach to things you commonly lose like keys or your dog, is trying to raise $45,000 on Indiegogo to manufacture the Share It device, which will cost between $40 and $45 during the campaign.
The Share It has to be within 150 feet of the person on the receiving end. What about the aunt three states away? This is not for that kind of sharing but think of a wedding where you’ve snapped several photos with your iPhone (or Android device). Family and friends with the app can view the photos at the reception while you hang onto your phone.
In fact, you don’t have to even pull out the phone to share the photos. Just press the button on the device to begin sharing a pre-selected album. Not everyone with the XY Share It app will see your photos. Privacy settings allow you to decide who sees which albums.
If XY reaches its goal in the next 30 days, the Share It devices – your choice of white, black or orange – will ship at the end of the year.
XY provides various incentive packages, which include multiple Share Its or in combination with the company’s Find It device.
