Remember the Elevation Dock? Yeah, me too. The Kickstarter took so long to ship that everybody who’d ordered one had upgraded to the iPhone 5 by the time the dock shipped, so they needed adapters to make them fit their new phones.
Still, that won’t happen with the new Elevation Stand, which is a simple $100 aluminum brick that adds a few inches to the height of your iMac.
The iMac is too low to use comfortably. I have the old fat version and I love it, but I’d love it more if the screen were a little higher. The Elevation Stand fixes that problem. It’s a sturdy aluminum loop that’s been extruded using a 90-million-pound press, and has nano-suction pads on the top so it stays stuck to your iMac’s foot.
As a solution its elegant and likely unbreakable. But it has one problem – there’s nowhere to stow a keyboard. What I like most about the iMac’s foot is that I can slide my keyboard under my Mac and the foot never gets in the way. And while you could shove a keyboard into the hole in the side, it’s hardly convenient.
So there it is: a beautiful stand that raises your iMac 66mm (around 2.6 inches) and costs $99 (or $59 for early bird Kickstarterers). That’s $1.50 per millimeter, or $38 per inch.
