A big advantage of these Four-Thirds cameras is that you gain the ability to swap lenses like you can with an SLR — but in a much smaller, lighter and generally more portable package. Olympus says their new PEN E-PM1 is their most portable yet.
The 12.3 megapixel Four-Thirds has all kinds of frills like an image stabilizer, ability to shoot 1080i video in AVCHD format, automatic scene selection, a three-inch LCD screen and face detection that automatically focuses on the subject’s eyes, and it comes with a 14-42 f3.5/5.6 zoom lens.
The E-MP1 hits shelves next month at $500.

Is this Cult of Mac or Engadget?

ive been waiting for this!!
I’m still waiting. That price is exhorbitant. These things should cost LESS than most Point & Shoots, because they use a SMALLER SENSOR.
Four Thirds sensors are actually larger than most point-n-shoot sensors. They are, however, smaller than all (as far as I know) DSLR sensors.
